Rudi Kröll and his Team “Argon” win the Nissan Outdoor Games at Chamonix!

A great success for this film and photo festival focused on outdoor sports: this Saturday in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, all were invited to enjoy the amazing show put on by the world’s best athletes in ski, snowboard, mountaineering, paragliding and BASE jump. A unique event, the Nissan Outdoor Games again brought thousands of spectators to the official film projections and spectacular air shows at the Plan de l’Aiguille (Aiguille du Midi) and the Grands Montets.

After filming for one week, the world’s best extreme sports athletes and exceptional production teams turned in their films!

At the center of one of the most impressive sports terrains: the valley of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, the five teams submitted their films to the jury which were the fruit of hours of work for a 5-minute film! The jury, presided by Tristan Carné, deliberated for quite a long time this afternoon before making their decision.

This second edition of the winter Nissan Outdoor Games, the most important outdoor sports event in Europe, brought together athletic performances by professional athletes and the creative/artistic aspect of a film and photo festival.

“I was really impressed by the technical difficulties of the images filmed by the athletes,” said Karine Ruby, snowboard Olympic Champion and jury member.

According to Tristan Carné (director and jury president), the jury* deliberation was an enriching experience with a true debate. There were questions posed about the scenarios, the importance of the athletic performance, the film trailer style chosen by some teams versus a true short film…

After viewing the films several times and heated discussions, the jury finally made their decision…
The Golden Peak is awarded to Team Argon.
The Jury’s Special Award is awarded to Team Golgoht.
The Best Sports Sequence is awarded to Ride the Planets.

The film by Team Argon was quickly chosen by the jury for the Golden Peak Award: with a complete scenario, well-transitioned sequences, great acting, a real ambiance that captured the spectators’ attention from beginning to end with a philosophical question of life, death and regrets…
This true short film was rapidly recognized for its merits becoming the unanimous choice as leader.

The Devils Ride by Team Argon
Sell your soul to the devil to succeed in life on earth: a dilemma encountered by the film’s characters. The choice for the outdoor sports enthusiasts was made with no regrets: enjoy earthly pleasures no matter the future consequences. This film was comprised of pure action images, fluidity and consistency of the scenario. For the transition of these images, the athletes encountered the devil, the driving force of the film played by Hannes ‘Spleny’ Haberl (AUT).

The Jury’s Special Award: Golgoht

Two Contest’s, two Victories!

Nach zwei zweiten Plätzen konnte der Zillertaler Rudi Kröll (AUT)
heuer endlich den legendären CHECK THE RIPPER im Rahmen der SNICKERS
NORDPARK SESSIONS 2009 presented by Atomic im Innsbrucker Nordpark
gewinnen. Bei starkem Schneetreiben setzte sich mit Lukas „Luggi“ Brucic
(AUT) auch bei den Freeskiern ein Tiroler durch. Bei den Snowboarderinnen
siegte Sandy Gecek (AUT), bei den Freeskierinnen die Deutsche Lena Stoffel.
Die SNICKERS NORDPARK SESSIONS 2009 begannen am Donnerstag bei
strahlendem Sonnenschein mit der Skyline Expression Session im Skyline Park
und der SNICKERS Highest Air Session in der Quarterpipe. Sieger des Tages war
Wolle Beer (AUT), der den Highest Air sprang und von der Jury zum Most Impressive Rider gewählt wurde. Beer überzeugte die Jury besonders in der Quarterpipe und konnte sich knapp vor Sani Alibabic (AUT) und Lars Österle (GER, Hotzone.tv Teamrider) durchsetzen.
Am Freitagabend folgte bei starkem Schneefall der Flutlicht-Event Hit da Pipe in der Superpipe des Skyline Parks. Bei der sehr entspannten, rein freundschaftlichen Session war von jungen Rippern bis alten Haudegen und einigen Legenden alles am Start. Wegen der widrigen Bedingungen stand hier der Spaß im Vordergrund; auf eine Wertung wurde verzichtet.

Check The Ripper: „Mission erfüllt!“

Bereits zum 15. Mal fand dann am Samstag der Traditionsevent Check the Ripper statt. Bei heftigem Schneetreiben wurden in einem weltweit einzigartigen Format die ultimativen Allround-Ripper auf Snowboards und Ski ermittelt: Die Strecke führte erst über diverse Freestyle-Elemente und dann über den unpräparierten, supersteilen Osthang. Sieger wurde, wer sich für Freestyle-Tricks im Park Zeitgutschriften holte und im freien Gelände der Schnellste war. Durch die schwierigen Bedingungen am Osthang mit viel Schnee und schlechter Sicht stand dieses Jahr das Fahrkönnen im Vordergrund, weniger die Manöver auf den Kickern.
Bei den Snowboardern wollte Ästhetiker Rudi Kröll (AUT) den Contest endlich
gewinnen, nachdem er zuletzt zweimal Zweiter geworden war. Er sprang einen
perfekten Cab 900 und errang dadurch eine Zeitgutschrift von 11,5 Sekunden, die er durch den Osthang ins Ziel bringen konnte. „Mission erfüllt! Jackpot geknackt!“, war Kröll danach erleichtert. „Ich bin gestoked, bei diesen schwierigen Bedingungen mit schlechter Sicht und viel Powder gewonnen zu haben. Es ist cool, Allover-Gewinner zu sein!“ Zweiter wurde überraschend Mitveranstalter und Freerider Tobi Örley (AUT), der die Bestzeit hinlegte und damit auch Pros wie Lars Österle (GER), Sani Alibabic (AUT) und Stefan Wimmer (AUT) hinter sich ließ, die Fünfter bzw. Sechster wurden. Rang drei ging an David Reinthaler (AUT), der sich im zweiten Durchgang leider einen Kreuzbandriss zuzog. Das Spitzentrio durfte Sachpreise wie Bionicon- Mountainbikes sowie Surfboards entgegennehmen; Rudi Kröll darf sich zudem auf einen Trip zum Chillhouse Surfcamp in Bali freuen. Dorthin kann er auch seine Freundin Sandy Gecek (AUT) mitnehmen, die bei den Snowboarderinnen gewann.
Auf den weiteren Podiumsplätzen landeten hier Kathrin Gappmayr (AUT) und Bettina „Betzy“ Köffler (AUT).
Auch bei den Freeskiern herrschte trotz des Schneefalls ein hohes Niveau. Lukas „Luggi“ Brucic hatte angekündigt, den Sieg wieder nach Tirol zu holen, und auch er erfüllte seine Mission. „Ich bin glücklich, es geschafft zu haben“, sagte er bei der Siegerehrung. „Ich finde das Contest-Format mit der Kombination aus Freeride und Freestyle total cool. Das ist einmalig und unterscheidet den Check The Ripper von den anderen Contests!“ Zweiter wurde der Deutsche Sebastian Hannemann vor Harry Richter (AUT), der sich ebenfalls mit Knieverletzung ins Ziel rettete. Bei den Freeskierinnen gewann die deutsche Lena Stoffel vor Julia Spiesberger (AUT) und Alexjova Lulu (CZE). Auch die Skifahrer konnten sich über Surfboards und weitere Sachpreise freuen.
Ihren Abschluss fanden die SNICKERS NORDPARK SESSEIONS presented by
Atomic wie jedes Jahr mit dem legendären Wildsauessen und der anschließenden Party in der WOLKE 7 aufder Hungerburg.
